Walmart has announced plans to remodel more than 650 stores across the United States in 2025, part of a $9 billion investment strategy the retail giant first unveiled in 2023.

The massive renovation project comes as the company reassures customers that prices will remain low despite tariffs on Chinese products implemented by the Trump administration. As of 2025, approximately 60% of Walmart's products come from China.

Shoppers can expect significant changes throughout the renovated locations, including new signage, updated displays, and expanded departments featuring new merchandise. According to a media release that included photos and renderings, several key areas will receive makeovers, including bakeries, baby sections, apparel, grocery, and home departments.

The company's pharmacies will also see improvements, with plans for wider aisles and new private screening rooms to enhance customer privacy and convenience.

"Our stores often serve as the heartbeat of the communities we operate in, and these remodels are a testament to our dedication to enhancing that role," said Walmart Sr. Vice President Jay Cordray. "By investing in our stores and associates, we are not only improving the shopping experience but also reinforcing our commitment to being a vital part of the community's fabric, helping to build a brighter future for all."

This latest round of renovations represents Walmart's continued effort to modernize its retail footprint while addressing the challenges of international trade policies and changing consumer expectations.
