ROSIE O'DONNELL ON LIFE IN IRELAND AFTER TRUMP RE-ELECTION

Comedian Rosie O'Donnell has opened up about her new life in Ireland three months after relocating there with her 12-year-old son Clay, whom she shared with her late ex-wife Michelle Rounds.
In an interview, the 63-year-old comedian revealed details about their journey to find a home in the Emerald Isle.
"We chose Ireland and didn't really know where to go," O'Donnell explained. "And someone said Dalkey, and I found a house online that was in Glengarry. But when the people who were helping us move in went there, there was mold in it."
She added that they "could not move there, especially with an autistic child who has some allergy issues."
O'Donnell has publicly condemned President Donald Trump for promoting what she describes as "horrific ideas" leading to racism and homophobia. She made it clear that the current political climate in the U.S. was the primary reason she and Clay decided to leave the country.
The pair eventually settled in Howth, a small Irish village that O'Donnell has grown to love.
"There's a great, great school there," the former talk show host said. "Clay has done very well. And they were really welcoming."
"I love the little town," she continued. "It's in the heart of Dublin, but it's still a village where you know the name of the grocer and you know the name of the cashiers. People are unbearably kind in a way that shocks me every single day."
The "View" alum, who also shares four adult children—Parker, 29, Chelsea, 27, Blake, 25, and Vivienne, 22—with ex-wife Kelli Carpenter, emphasized that she has no regrets about making this significant life change.
"I know myself enough to know that this was something I needed to do," she said, "for the safety and sanity of myself and my non-binary child."
Despite her contentment with her new home, O'Donnell admitted that she misses the friends and family she left behind in the States, noting that the time difference has made staying connected challenging.
"It's been very hard because of the time zone," the "A League of Their Own" actress explained. "And I really miss that."
She maintains regular contact with her children and closest friends through technology: "I call my kids, I FaceTime my kids. I have two best friends, Junie and Jackie, since I [was] 3 years old. They're really like sisters. And I talk to them all the time. I have two brothers I'm very close to. I talk to them all the time."
